Sounds of Summer in Mullingar Town Park
This Sunday, May 18, from 3:00 PM, join the Mullingar Concert Band for a free afternoon of live music in the picturesque Mullingar Town Park. This concert is part of the band's "Sounds of Summer" series, which also includes performances at The Atrium on May 13 and at Belvedere House on May 25 .
Enjoy a mix of classic and contemporary tunes performed in a beautiful outdoor setting. Bring a blanket, relax, and soak in the sounds of summer with family and friends.

🏆 Loreto Student Wins ESERO Discover Space Award at SciFest@DkIT 2025
Katelyn Dunne, a Transition Year student from Loreto College, Mullingar, has been awarded the ESERO Discover Space Student Award at SciFest@DkIT 2025 for her project titled “How to Develop the Most Sustainable Planetary Rover for Mars.”
Held at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT), the event featured over 300 students from 26 schools across north Leinster and south Ulster, showcasing 145 innovative projects. Katelyn's project focused on designing a sustainable Mars rover, emphasizing eco-friendly materials and features to minimize space debris. Her work also aims to raise awareness about the growing issue of space junk. Katelyn plans to further develop her project with prototypes of the redesigned rover.
As the recipient of the ESERO Discover Space Award, Katelyn's achievement highlights the growing interest and innovation among young students in the fields of science and technology.
💛 Ballynacargy GAA Supports Jason McKeon in His Fight Against Leukemia
Jason McKeon, a 21-year-old midfielder with Ballynacargy GAA, is battling leukemia and undergoing treatment at St. James’s Hospital. To support him and his family, the club and community have come together for various fundraising efforts.
Key initiatives include:
A GoFundMe campaign, which has raised over €10,000. (gofundme.com)
A successful fundraising concert at Clarkes Bar, Mullingar, on January 25, featuring live music by Luke Price.
A charity match on New Year’s Day raised over €1,000.
These efforts show the incredible support from the Ballynacargy community during Jason’s treatment.

Mullingar Town Park has earned the prestigious Green Flag Award once again, recognizing it as one of Ireland’s top public parks. 🏅

The team played against Ballynacargy and were defeated with a final score of 1-25 to 0-17. The match showcased the team's resilience despite the challenging outcome.

ACFL Division 5 – May 3, 2025:
Mullingar Shamrocks secured a 2-15 to 3-11 victory over Milltown at Springfield. This win was a positive result in their league campaign.ACFL Division 1 – May 1, 2025:
The team faced Milltown and lost with a score of 1-11 to 2-11. Despite the defeat, the match provided valuable experience for the team.
🏃♂️ Mullingar Harriers Athletics
Leinster Novice & Masters Road Championships – May 3, 2025:
Mullingar Harriers athletes delivered strong performances, securing multiple individual and team medals. Notably, they won 4 individual masters medals, 1 individual novice medal, and 3 sets of club team medals. Additionally, they clinched 3 sets of county team medals.
🏐 St Oliver Plunkett’s Camogie Club
Junior Camogie League – May 6, 2025:
The junior team played their league match against Cumann Báire Caoimhín B. The match was part of their ongoing league campaign.
